The Irredeemable Age is the unhinged second album by NYC-based avant/slam death crew THÆTAS, set for release this Friday on Profound Lore Records, and streaming early today.

THÆTAS unites drummer Nick Crifo, guitarists Terrell Grannum (Reeking Aura, Buckshot Facelift, Squelching Flesh) and Patrick Hawkins (Asystole, Needlepusher, Kyrios, Aberrated), and vocalist/bassist Cory Peterson (37564 Recordings).

After several years of gestation, THÆTAS returns with the long-awaited follow-up to their 2020 Maggot Stomp-released Shrines To Absurdity debut. The Irredeemable Age is an auditory statement for this moment in time which shows THÆTAS both refining and intensifying the brutal death metal approach while deepening their explorations into the bizarre, the uncharted, and the avant-garde. The result is a dynamic mosaic of obsessively dark, organic, off-kilter, and kinetic death metal, devastating the listener with nine tracks in barely thirty minutes.

The Irredeemable Age was tracked independently then mixed and mastered by the inimitable Colin Marston (Krallice, Gorguts, Pyrrhon) and completed with cover art by Jon Zig.

Hawkins writes, “If you look around, we all know The Irreedemable Age is here, but as of right now it finally has a soundtrack. On this record we’re faster, darker, more intense, more exploratory and more unhinged than ever. We definitely didn’t hold back on this one and we ended up in some musical territory that surprised even ourselves. I think there’s some stuff for the art/prog/jazz crowd to dig into here but plenty of sheer brutality for our long-time fans as well.”

Peterson states, “When you look at what was going on when the first album came out, and think of what’s going on now, the title says it all.”

The Irredeemable Age will be released on LP, CD, and digital formats this Friday, June 26th. Preorders for all formats and presaves can be placed at Profound Lore HERE.

THÆTAS is booking new shows around the area in support of the record, with a set supporting Gigan in Clifton on August 18th, and a record release show confirmed for August 28th in Brooklyn. Additional shows including some gigs in New England in the Fall and more are in the works.

“The staggering brutality found within these nine tracks may lull as much as it pummels, inducing a near-catatonic blissed-out awe at the fractal horrors spilling from the speakers, but The Irredeemable Age is by no means accessible.…The slams are sparse, short lived, and intricately calculated to expand your mind as much as liquefy it.” – Decibel Magazine

“Mixed and mastered by Colin Marston with a clarity that sharpens every jagged edge, The Irredeemable Age feels both oppressive and strangely exhilarating — a document of collapse rendered with obsessive craft and restless imagination. THÆTAS have not abandoned the traditions. They have dragged them deeper underground — into stranger territory, and returned with something that feels unsettlingly alive. The age may be irredeemable, but the music most certainly is not.” – Veil Of Sound
