Seattle noise rock/sludge/post-metal trio GREAT FALLS has just premiered a new video for “Trap Feeding,” the second track on the band’s latest LP Objects Without Pain, through Decibel Magazine.

Underground metal/hardcore scene lifers, GREAT FALLS unites alumni/members of Kiss It Goodbye, Undertow, Playing Enemy, Bastard Feast, Gaytheist, and more. Their fourth LP, Objects Without Pain was released in the Fall of 2023 via Neurosis’ Neurot Recordings, and now sees a limited cassette version through Total Dissonance Worship.

Objects Without Pain recorded at Studio Litho and mixed at Antisleep, both by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Yautja, Thrice, No Lights), with additional recording by Jon Roberts and Stephan Hawks. The record includes additional instrumentation by John Schork, additional vocals by Lillian Albazi, with Albazi’s vocals recorded by Liam Moran and Sebby Hoppen at Demon Spawn Recordings. The record was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Sunn O))) -16-), and completed with art/layout by Demian Johnston and photography by Soren Hixenbaugh.

The “Trap Feeding” video was directed and filmed by John Malley and edited by John Schork and showcases the intense live energy of a GREAT FALLS live show.

With the video, Decibel’s feature reads in part, “While GREAT FALLS can be harsh on first listen, they unquestionably mine some of the difficulties of being human in our strange digital, pre-apocalyptic landscape. My first listen of Objects Without Pain felt like being a newborn doused with cold holy water;  the landscape became clearer but no less discomforting with several listens.”

Objects Without Pain is out now on 2xLP, CD, and digital platforms through Neurot Recordings HERE. A limited cassette version is also now available via Total Dissonance Worship HERE.

“Objects Without Pain may see GREAT FALLS absorbing novel sounds and influence into their oft-impenetrable wall of Hydra Head/Ebullition/Escape Artist din, but it’s still as unwelcoming, abrasive, and unhummable as ever, and remains a character trait on which they pride themselves.” – Decibel Magazine

“Compared to the bulldozing lead single ‘Trap Feeding,’ this new eight-and-a-half-minute song explores the band’s slower, sludgier side, and it’s a real trip.” – BrooklynVegan, on the “Trap Feeding” single

“Emotion and feeling are always important in music. Yet, there are certain cases when these can become essential. GREAT FALLS have a particular insight on that relationship, informing their dark hardcore with even darker thematics. Having amassed an excellent discography since the 2010s, the act’s latest work Objects Without Pain finds them at their finest.” – PopMatters

“The mental anguish I’m experiencing mixed with anxiety is only becoming more palpable as I listen to each song.” – No Echo

“Sonically, the album matches its lyrical content in purposefully jarring and nauseating fashion. This is an emotional and difficult listen, but one that cannot be recommended enough.” – Ghost Cult
