our Independence dayThe night was cool and clear and the streets crawled with people. The air still smells of forest fire and Friendly faces on tandem bikes ride by with well wishes and hellos. as everyone makes their way towards good old Lake Loveland. All along the south side of the lake people line the lake and street. In chairs, on bikes, and on blankets, with children and pets. The recent tragic forest fires are now in the back of our minds as everyone settles in to a much deserved and welcomed holiday, our independence day, the 4th of July.
![]() The fire works where set for 9:15 and they went off with out a hitch. The 10 or 15 min display lit the sky with wild colors and patterns ![]() as children owed and awed and people cheered. The display grew in intensity till it reached its peak in the grand finally. Afterwards the people swarmed on foot away from the lake in a flood of souls all migrating in one general direction. The smell of forest fire and gun powder lingering in the air and the almost creepy lack of fireworks on the streets made for a pleasant walk home and a relaxing end to another wonderful 4th of July! |
