Gwar Hates Our Planet.
GWAR at the Aggie Ft Collins 04/11/2012
Gwar hates our planet. But... They showed up at Ft. Collins own Aggie Theater on April 11th, 2012. Freaks and geeks lined up and down every sidewalk on College Avenue surrounding the Aggie as darkness began to fall, to see the one and only GWAR. Many types of people, ages ranging from 6 to 65 years old, hippies and punkrockers to barbie dolls and metal heads, filed all in a row to witness the greatest, wettest and most horriffic show on the planet... GWAR! With the recent loss of their long time guitarist and beloved friend Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus), coupled with the cancel of their European tour, fans of the 25+ year experienced band were shocked and excited at the announcement of their show on this tour here in Colorado, at the Aggie theater of all places. Waiting in line to collect our tickets, Amy Hutcheson of RRSP and I watched as the crowd grew thicker and more energetic by the moment. Upon entering the venue, the first band setting up was New Zealand's own Legacy of Disorder, a metal band with strong vocals and lyrics, backed up by a bad ass heavy sound... a great start for the show. Next up was the insanely metal, phenomenally fucking creepy Splatterthrash band, Ghoul. I only have two words that can describe the stage presence these guys had up there... Holy Shit. I was impressed with their whole set, and I am excited to see them next time they come around. The final act before GWAR was rolling and ready to fuck shit up. Municipal Waste. These guys are not only rad offstage, they are a mother fucking hurricane of raging fuck yeah onstage, with a true old school thrash metal sound and lyrics to match. If you don't own any of their albums, I suggest you get your ass in gear and pick one up now! By the time Municipal Waste was playing their last song, (which I am kinda homicidal about missing) Amy and I were waiting anxiously out back behind the Aggie for our lifelong dream to come true...An interview with GWAR. Which I am not going to share with you here BAHAHAHA because you need to go watch the video :P The rest of the night was murder and mayhem after our favorite aliens of all time took the stage and rocked our fucking faces off. As usual! The crowd mashed into a sick pile of screaming, bloodied masses of body parts all trying to claw their way to the front of the stage, while being spayed with gooey matter and loving every minute of it. Another unforgettable night for the crazed fans of the most face melting skull stomping maggot eating universe dominating band ever. This is...The age of GWAR. -Nikki Battlescar Click link to view RRSP interview with ODERUS URUNGUS |
